“Ghosts and other Visions” new work by Kate Breakey
An artist's talk about and exhibition of lyrical, evocative images, delicately hand-colored, on Japanese mulberry paper by renowned photographer, Kate Breakey. Works were inspired by an ethereal poem, "Ghosts of Love."

Kate Breakey is a visual artist known for her large-scale, hand-colored photographs. Since 1981 her work has appeared in more than 75 solo exhibitions and more than 50 group exhibitions in the United States, France, Japan, Australia, China, and New Zealand. Her work is in the permanent collection of many public institutions including the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Wittliff collections at Texas State University, the Austin Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra and the Osaka Museum in Japan. In 2004, she received the Photographer of the Year Award from the Houston Center for Photography.

Bill Rush, “POV”, a Brickworks Gallery exhibition of Rush’s work that will be featured in Art on the Beltline,  Sept 9-November 15, 2017.  Bill will give a closing talk on his work on Saturday November 18th at 6:30 pm.

Artist’s statement:  "Art is all around us.  POV reveals it through the eyes of the artist where you can experience a whole new perspective of the world you see every day.”  Rush captures beautiful, evocative scenes of Atlanta, which will be placed at the location where the photo was captured.  Our gallery exhibition will feature the Art on the Beltline images, as well as other Atlanta scenes, presented on recycled industrial materials.

Meet our "wood whisperer", the fabulous wood turning artist, John Williams.  Come hear John tell stories about his art, the materials and tools he uses, and the inspiration for his work.  John Williams searches for the ways the wood  speaks to him, finding its inner beauty.  He creates his art from urban trees cut down due to blight, disease or construction, giving them a new, and beautiful life.  

Devan Cole Glass Making Workshops and Holiday Show

Brickworks Gallery will be hosting members of Art Partners with the High Museum.  

Join us for an engaging afternoon as Brickworks Gallery owner Laura Adams talks to Art Partners members about her gallery. She will also give us a tour of her studio and home in the B. Mifflin Hood Brick Co. building. Artists Rachel Evans, Emma Knight, and Howard Kurtzman, whose work is on view in the gallery, will join Adams to talk about their paintings.
